REGIONAL MANAGER/OPERATIONS MANAGER - TEXAS

 

Company Profile

Republic ITS, founded in 1991, is an electrical service provider specializing in the engineering, maintenance, repair, construction, and ongoing operation of traffic signals, streetlights, call boxes, ITS and other utility infrastructure.  Republic ITS also operates its own independent test laboratory for traffic signal controllers, cabinets, and other critical components.  Our Corporate Headquarters is located in Novato, California, with field offices in Northern and Southern California, Massachusetts, and Texas.  We are currently seeking a Regional Manager to provide leadership to our Dallas-Ft. Worth area office located in Grand Prairie, TX.

 

Job Description

The Regional Manager will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer and will be responsible for financial performance of the region, overseeing numerous projects for public and private sector customers, managing project management and administrative staff and managing field staff.  The qualified candidate will have 10+ years related experience in project management, electrical construction or traffic signal industry with at least 3+ years in a management role.  The position consists of the following duties:

 

Profit and Loss Management

·         Review monthly financial statements and make course corrections to meet goals.

·         Organize and run weekly job status meetings.

·         Supervise regional project management and support staff.

·         Recruit and hire additional project mangers and support staff, as needed, to create a team that pursues excellence.

·         Be involved in the ongoing pursuit of additional work, both maintenance and construction, that enables strong growth and profitability.

 

Maintenance and Construction Project Management

·         Support the marketing and bidding processes.

·         Set up new contracts – read and clearly understand the contract and plans, and communicate salient points and labor goals to the field manager for the agency by preparing an agency or project fact sheet.

·         Obtain bonds, insurance, business licenses and permits as required.

·         Obtain and provide submittals as required.

·         Employ and manage subcontractors.

·         Create, update, and adhere to project schedules including the identification of major and minor tasks, milestones, and critical path management.

·         Ensure that 100% of projects are completed on time, on budget and to the satisfaction of the customer.

·         Maintain ongoing contact with the field superintendent and foremen.

·         Develop/maintain ongoing customer relationship, including bi-monthly visits.

·         Generate estimates and proposals for changes to project scope, and review such items prepared by project managers.

·         Generate estimates and proposals for work identified in monthly maintenance or as requested by or suggested to the customer, and review such items prepared by project managers.

·         Oversee the monthly construction and maintenance billings.

·         Perform Job Cost Evaluation for all jobs on a monthly basis.  Communicate results with project managers and with senior field staff.

·         Oversee the purchasing of stock and non-stock items – be involved in ongoing search for quality materials and competitive pricing.

·         Manage the regional inventory to balance operational efficiency with just-in-time delivery.

·         Work with engineering staff to evaluate, design and optimize lighting and transportation facilities such as traffic signals, intelligent transportation systems, and bicycle and pedestrian features.

  

Field Staff Management

·         Supervise all foremen and other key field staff, including recruiting and hiring of additional staff.

·         Manage the daily labor workforce to maximize efficiency while meeting.

·         Review all field staff time cards for completeness, accuracy and utilization or resources.

·         Set aggressive but realistic goals and hold field staff accountable for meeting goals.

·         Set a tone that recognizes the importance and value of our field staff to our company.

·         Identify and promote senior field staff with the ability and desire to create a team that pursues  excellence.

 

Requirements

·         Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or Business/Management.

·         Minimum 10+ years Civil Engineering, electrical/engineering/construction industry experience.

·         Excellent technical foundation, especially electrical, with an ability to learn new concepts rapidly.

·         Excellent verbal/written communication skills.

·         Strong Computer Skills including MS Word, MS Excel, MS Project, and MS Outlook.

·         Problem Solver with a Strong Work Ethic.

·         Candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to successfully interact with Republic ITS office and field staff as well as clients/customers.

·         Candidate must be a motivated self-starter, able to work independently and in a team environment.

·         Regional travel is anticipated with the position.
